hello there, this exists to help my failing memory remember things I would want to remember a few years down the road.

fa cai seven
Today after church, I went to attend a temple's 7th month dinner, how ironic.
Was only there for my Mum's sake.

So might as well... self-entertain right.

So I went for my mini-photoshoot at the chinese opera place.
Self-built tentage, look at the spars, haha!

and they were so kind they just asked me to go up.
So I whisked around the place and took a few shots, was only there for a few minutes, 'cause felt quite out of place, lol. The shots aren't fantastic, 'cause I was rushing through, but the experience was great. Some lady had a DSLR but she was just standing in front -_-"

she's really funny. she was like "oh I strike lottery!" *poses with ticket then,
"aye no no cannot spoil my image" so she sat there and gave me that professional smile.

and the woman, the director behind the show..!

Watched two completely different kind of shows back-to-back
(yellowmonkey on fri and opera on sat),
just... have this sense of admiration for these opera performers.
They have no glam make-up stations nor stylists, they do their make-up themselves. They survive on two lok-kok speakers that echo quite badly, with no CD player, the artist just sing from backstage when they need "background music". Their stage is always temporary, yet the setting is beautifully and intricately painted. Their audience can be counted with your fingers and toes.

I always wonder if they have a fulltime job or if they do this for all their time.
Whether they do it for their gods' sake, or for the sake of this Art, there's this sort of charm that I finally see tonight I never appreciated.

On the other hand, some too-rich fella paid 12k for a piece of ornament.
and people pay a few hundreds for two packs of normal rice.
just because they added "fa cai" in front of them, their market value seem to multiply.
-_-

My bro-in-law was saying that they should bring Macbook Air or something, then the people will be like "what's that thin metal thing? Uh, $299 la." Then I will go "$399!" and then I will win the bid. ^^"
Yes we were bored.

I wonder, ten-twenty years down, will this still remain?
Maybe it will change to be in an aircon tentage with mp3s and laptops for bidding and all done in English?

I hope not.
