hello there, this exists to help my failing memory remember things I would want to remember a few years down the road.

hei se hui
(It's currently day 9, but the internet is so slow.... here's day 3)

We found a miraculous spot in the hostel that gives us wireless internet access, but it's a specific spot/area, cannot move out of it or you will get DC-ed (what kind of funny net is this?), and I am surviving on one bar on my air port, but yay thank God for internet!

We are in Poster Design class, pretty much like our Pixel Collage, and it's their final critique/submission week, which makes life easy for us :X so easy that we went out of class for breakfast- Hong shao Niu Rou instant noodles .

This class is really friendly, they kept asking us to go for lunch together, so we went to the school's cafe, called yi shu ka fei (or art coffee).

Snacked on many many gua zhi and popcorn and still eat lunch immediately after, we shared this beef fried rice thing.

It's kinda like glutinous rice just much bigger, lol.

This is our wonderful tour guide and friend (she went over to SG last year), Tian Yi.
Thanks for the intro, Rayson! :D She's so slack (but still do well) and so funny.

We then went for our er, proper lunch cum dinner since we were hungry after sharing food.
This is mi xian, very common here~

Then it was grocery shopping, ogling at packaging/typo/logo and things SG doesn't have, like..

colourful mangoes!
Teacher said that the colours are due to whatever chemicals they added to preserve it since it's a tropical fruit and needs to be imported :|

Then we went for their entertainment at this retro performance house place.

It's called er ren jiang, aka "two people talk" directly translated. HAHA.
It's like they sing, dance, roll on the floor, swing their hair, say lame jokes, dance, say gross jokes and do acrobat kind of performance. ._.

It's a unique experience I guess HAHA. Quite amazing that these trendy teenagers that's so into K-culture and all the external global influences still laugh and enjoy these bits that's part of their own culture. We Singaporeans laugh, at all the wrong parts, hahaha :X

Good night, and in case you are wondering, there's no time diff here and back in sunny Singapore, miss the Sun that gives warmth!!! Here it's just.. bright.
Good night, will blog more soon~

AHHHHH SO COLD

Day two started with us waking up late and I wonder if day three will too.
(It’s 127am now, ZY is rushing her report, YT recording her presentation video for the nth time, and lays is mass blogging into Microsoft word BOO)

It takes duper long to get ready for school with the amount of clothes we got to pile on. We did anyway, in time and in luck! There’s this funky relief teacher, he’s twenty-seven and has a lot of potential as a teacher! He was discussing the grad show with the yan jiu sheng (research students, I think Masters students?), the examples he showed are inspiring and he was telling us he wants to bring the big brands to the students here, since they are not well exposed.

We went for lunch in the school’s canteen and it really isn’t as bad as the seniors make it out to be. We were not as adventurous so we ate mixed rice :X

We followed the funky lecturer as he went teaching the next class, and he made all of them meet up at a really cool café as the teaching venue, since they are researching and learning about coffee culture.

There’s just something… so beautiful about old things. The owner collected tones of them and put it all as décor in the café. :D

This is me listening to class and ZY not listening to class and taking photos HAHA.

Us with some of the media students :D
So the thick plastic spect frames trend is EVERYWHERE~

The three lost sheep asked around and went shopping~

Their shopping can totally compare with SG’s, just a lot more shiok since it’s so cheap sometimes : D We went around this entire shopping centre that sells a lot of sportswear (so much better than our Velocity :X), there’s this top floor that sells tones of pretty non-sports clothes.

We had KFC for dinner and it’s kinda different from SG’s.
This is lao Beijing set meal (why they name it that I do not know, sounds horrible) but it’s like twister with Beijing kao ya’s sauce. It’s good! And the weird thing is they don’t have mashed potato, they have salad, that’s my corn salad, tastes like the one on top of corn sushi.
The service in the KFC there is woah, so amazing, they played an announcement and birthday songs for someone 0_0

Went for more shopping at this place that sells really pretty simple muji-ish looking clothes, not dirt cheap, but real pretty. It’s called ni feng chao or something ._.

And this is day two, though it feels like a week has passed already.
Just want to say I miss everyone! Can get a little homesick at night, :X

It’s 205am (YT still recording, perhaps the n0th time, ZY’s konking out, and Lays thinks we are going to oversleep.)

I don't know when I will get net to upload again, but I will still keep track of what happened daily :D

HERE WE GO

The few moments before leaving home, I was frantically stuffing chargers into my huge luggage and feeling like I don’t want to leave home no more. Childish I know… My parents have been so tremendously paranoid and naggy and caring as I prepare for this trip, they asked me to start packing a few weeks ago. -_-“ I did appreciate how Dad helped throughout. :D

The people who came and wave byebye to us helped a lot.
Thank you dear Nuo and Mandark and the Polaroid, which is now stuck onto our wall. Thanks Philo, Yiyou, Gwen, KaiXiang and HuaXiang for hanging around after caregroup before coming now with wonderful brownie nibblers, kisses (the chocs, I won’t let any of them kiss me, haha) and this wonderful book.

I was reading and smiling all the way as the plane was slanting and going upwards.
The 19 chinese verses you guys put in the book are really a bit challenging, but I will meditate on one daily!

I suspect I have mild OCD because I love how airplane food is served in rectangular and square plates, soooo neat and pretty ^^”

God knows His girl very well and I got window seats for both the plane rides!
When I woke up at a weird timing and gaze out, I saw the cresent and such a bright star (I insist it is one though it might be a satellite)
Oh bright morning starrrr~

and also my fav rainbow skies.

This made me feel as thought a pair of huge hands took time to mould and carve every piece carefully, look at the amazing texture.

And you know how we always draw clouds floating random in regular intervals when we were young? Apparently they really do..
*watches clouds roll by HAHA.

we stopped by Beijing airport for breakfast and for the transfer flight to Changchun.

The standard photos we have no choice but to take.

Had sandwich, which was good because China Airline served some pau thing that I didn’t like, HAHA.

Happen to sit next to YT and a German man.
We wrote him a little note since he looked so glum and his face brightened up and all.
Writing notes to random strangers is becoming a weird happy thing I like to do once in a while.

After the painful eardrum-bursting landings, we were told that it’s negative three degrees. We went crazy over blowing out at the cold air and seeing the “smoke” come out of it.

These are the first sights of Changchun that we manage to capture with shaking fingers.

We were brought to our hostel, which is like a little motel room, with bed, tv, a little kitchen, bathroom and a tiny living room, :D
Kind of like our little home, now a little messy :X

Hurriedly ushered out for a lunch treat on the school.

It’s really not like the Chinese food we have back home, but well, interesting experience. Haha.
That jelly thingy is actually frozen pork lard. ._. it is apparently very good for the complexion. Out of curiosity I took one, it tastes just like…. Salty jelly.

The tour around the school made many whine, and like oh-man-why-do-they-have-so-much. Each course has a studio, pretty much like TDS, just that their studios are really nicely designed, each is a self-contained clear “box” like thing, with a first floor with huge tables and specialized tools (VSC has different kinds of paper, Macs and printer) and the second floor computer work stations. It’s kind of like those rich people’s room you see in shows. Was too stunned to take photos till the pottery studio. Made 3D seem so much more relevant.

the ten lost sheep then went out for some shopping and dinner.
This is Mr Lee’s beef noodles, apparently this is like a fast food chain here, it’s everywhere.

And day one pretty much ended like this.

It's kinda nice staying with friends, having supper over the table together before going to bed :)
I do miss home though...
