hello there, this exists to help my failing memory remember things I would want to remember a few years down the road.

WONDER
Thanks to Phy's complimentary tickets,
we went to the Biennale 2008, WONDER!

(if you intend to go, you may want to skip this post if you want to be more awed.
if you don't intend to pay nor go, here's what's there)

(at this point I feel very tempted to just paste redrubydope's entry... but no, I shall blog my take on it, while kopping her nicely edited photos)

We went to South Bridge development first,
it was built in the 1930s and consists of three army blocks.
It was the first location for NS enlistment decades ago.
I really like how they make use these heritage locations for the biennale though they get creepy at night.

Please click and zoom to read this, because my explanation of it will belittle the true meaning behind it.

This is called Address, and it kind of reminds me of what Wall-E does, Cubify junk people do not want anymore.

The following are all charcoal drawings.
Really crazy, 'cause it's over the whole room, wonder how long the artist took.

the biennale features many videos that's kinda experimental, and the kind that we don't really... understand :X

amazing how the artist creates with just a colour.

this piece is about about dancers' flexibility.
it makes me feel like it's a tad sadistic though.
the colours are really really nice though.

wacky hair salon that makes you think you are looking at the reflection of it through the mirror, but the mirrors are all fake, you are actually looking at the other side of the room, arranged to look like a mirror image.

they're so serious about it, they even made a inverted clock.

This crescent in the tree is accompanied by a series of wonderful photography shots, which I can't show you, 'cause the glass they framed the shots up in are super reflective.
Basically it shows how a man lives with a crescent, and the photography and scenes took my breath away :D

this is us in this cool room that inflates and squashes you.
at first when we went in we were like UHHH, okay, where's the artwork?
then the walls started to inflate and the room became smaller.
simple idea, but so cool.

We then moved on to the huge wall...
and since it's blank besides the words...

I will always be amused at how we take group shots.

"aye zhiying, use yr bag lah, yr bag more flat!"

"to the left a bit!"

"faster run!"

LOL.
I love that shot of YT. HEHEHEHE.

"hotlikeshithotlikeshithotlikeshit"

cute photo of phy, hehe.

swing made out of light tubes

went on into a series of rooms with the floor covered with millions? of black paper, and with pretty patterns.

by now, we are dead tired.
and in need of drinks.
so we found ourselves in Mos. :D

ice milk tea for the win!

"bu yao pai wo! buyaopaiwo!"

do you spot someone familiar in the background?

*

and by now, the blogger is actually very tired, try filtering and editing photos from almost 500 shots >_< but there's still part two

at City Hall, the old supreme court

crazy artist actually grew this gourds from little seeds, cared for them on his own and then sculpted them into the heads.

this, is actually made of up

this, which identity we do not know...

this is highly interactive.
visitors are all given a piece of sticker each, and told to write something and paste on the floor, which is the view of Singapore from sky :D

our little squares worth

I found my alma mater!
a Pri sch kid went to biennale 0_0
and woah Andersonian!

cool book suspended in water, don't know how they did it, but it floats around and open and close..

amazing amount of patience :D

this scares the hell out of me.
they had flames burning projected on the walls,
crazy music,
and tones of black figures around.
it's night at the supreme court which has sentenced i-wonder-how-many people to death before.

I skipped some artworks, 'cause I am getting lazy, and the maggots piece freaked me out, though the rest think that it's cute, so I refuse to post anything on it. They had many videos which we didn't have enough time (nor patience) to sit through...

tired and shot by a tired and cranky camera

no link, but I just like this pict, lol!

the end.

Thank you for reading till here
you have no idea how long it takes to blog this, lol.
Support the Singapore Arts scene! :D

I also conclude that design and art are really very different.
And I am happy to be a Design(-er to be) student, who enjoys Art for what it is :D
