D013: to love or not to love
![]() A para out of Rockport's Field Guide: How to be a Graphic Designer. Talking about versatility vs specialisation. Adore the way they write and put the book together. Will get it once I get the next pay :D Trying not to get sucked back into the world of GD again. Many times, the VCers feel that this entire field seem so so small. One way to look at it is that we are pretty limited in software-based skills, we can't Aftereffects, we can't Flash that well and so on. This job is pulling me out of my happy VC print world, and making me see graphic design is a part of everything, and it can not (<-notice the spacing between the two words, makes a diff!) be my everything. Just like how Asylum ventured into interior, and how Chris Lee jokingly says it as looking around in the interior space and seeing each wall as a huge poster. So interior = many posters, HAHA! Another way to look at this is that we are versatile to venture into any aspect of design too :D My little trip to PageOne was a bit tough to walk away from the usual shelves and go read Archi books -_-" and try as I may, the only furthest I could go was a purchase of interior cafe/restaurant book from victionary. Give me some time, give me more time. But for now, I want to be a lover of many things. It's time to open those eyes! Labels: Hong Kong OSIP 2009 0 comments0 Comments: |
