![]() Hello, when nights get lonely with little friends, I go find friends in food! Yesterday there was less work so, determined to eat baked potato, (my weird cravings), I went to SuperSandwich (I ate their sandwich hurriedly the other day, was good!) for ![]() Baked potato topped with egg salad and salmon. Whoooooo. (Though I still think the one I had from Taipei's Shilin market is unforgetable, I ate it 4 years ago leh.) And I went walking about Admiralty (yes there's admiralty in HK too), I walked innocently into this accessories shop. The girl was so friendly, kept clipping bright shiny blings onto my hair ._. It's like I hate speaking 普通话 aka mandarin here, they think you're mainlander and treats you not nicely, when you speak english it's like so different. I unknowingly found myself in Pacific Plaza, another atas mall with the huge brands and came across ![]() Red Cross exhibition commemorating 150 years. They had 150 pairs of shoes (some real some decal) ![]() painted red to symbolise 150 years of bloodshed and war since they formed. Red Cross was founded when the founder saw the pains and aftermath of war and how the people needed help. The photos left my heart very heavy. Like what Pete said in his entry "It's not fair that we can sit and watch the evening news in the comfort of our living room and pity those who live where the ground shook or where the storm hit or where the waters rose, and simply feel sorry for them and change the channel and get along with supper." The people saw, and walked away, back into Lane Crawford, back into their big brands living, I did too. Some of them struggle to earn US$1 a day. The DSLR the journalist was holding and pointing at them could possibly feed them for 10 years.. Sigh. We see all this shit happening, turn back into our white (or grey) macs and continue clicking about, helping stupid big brands earn more money. I went to a particular client meeting the other day, it was really quite an eye opener, we had video conference with the franchise in Singapore (T_T), talked about somerset and ion and everything (T_T). It's a very interesting feeling to meet the management and people behind a brand that you deem as being of particular characteristics. And when you see (part of the) management being horrible, you wonder if all those things they say about brand image, brand values are but, a whole load of shit. And you wonder why you are sitting there, helping them tell the world all their brand values. (Well, he was only horrible for the first part...) Anyhow, since we are at it, more food pictures: ![]() 蜜汁charsiew rice ![]() Instant food, HK style with their siewmai and curry fishball thing And see that lotte koalas in the BG? I have abandoned hello panda for it :X (sorry renying HAHAHA) ![]() 水晶包 one of the bosses wants to help me gain weight, hahaha I wanted to eat these mochi balls of goodness at this vegetarian restaurant the boss brought us to (the only time I saw her sat down and eat) but I don't know what it is called, determined to have something chewy, I went all the way to ask my laundry uncle where to find desserts, (I surprise myself with the motivation to meet my food cravings) and tadaa ![]() 汤圆 It's very sad they put them in ginger soup, I miss ahboling, but nevermind, better than nothing. And just this afternoon, Creamo came to find me! :D (It's my first time sitting down to eat a proper lunch :X) I finally tried the KATONG LAKSA near office, I did it out of curiosity okay, plus my (Singaporean) boss said it's the best in HK already, so after I try this I don't have to bother with the others. It's 8 freaking sing, more expensive than food republic, and have NO HUM ah. With hum is like 10sing? ![]() (Sorry for the taugay poking out, I was too eager) Anyway it's really not bad ah, just that they use skinnier mee :( After work I was lost and had nothing to do, wandered about looking for dinner and got lured into a 茶餐厅 by the photos outside ![]() HK milk tea is awesome at any shop... I felt like I was in a TVB drama. Anyway nowadays I very desperate to watch TV (I don't have TV at the house), so it's nice to watch while eating and I normally linger to watch more hahaha Oh and there's no mirror(!), so I only figure out how I look when I walk past glass doors on my way to the mtr. ![]() I had 紫菜四宝, and there was 5 things in the soup? I was very proud of myself because the menu gave me 3 choice of mee, and I wanted mee kia, which they obviously won't understand so I guessed it should be 捞面,since the chef has to 捞 it right! Bingo HAAHA. Singapore so easy- thin mee, yellow mee, white mee, fat mee zzz. And I was wondering what ![]() this was, when I bite and the juice squirted out, and I realise it's the fish dumpling thing we sometimes have in fishball mee and mini wok mee? That spaceship looking thing, all buffed up here, : D There, I have been eating and growing poorer each day. And there we go, another week flying by. When you're alone so much, the voices in your head speak so much louder than they normally do. And you think a lot more, wander and wonder, and I guess it helps. And I tell myself one day I must really, do something, and not just look at those photos, hear those stories and feel sad. Labels: Hong Kong OSIP 2009 0 comments0 Comments: |
